Electrotonic transmission
From neurov.is/on
Electrotonic transmission is the tranmissions of action potentials over electrical synapses (gap junctions).
- Two pairs of hemichannels (or connexin; singular: connexon) form the bridge at the gap junction.
- Has a diameter around 1.5 nm.
- Charcot-Marie-Tooth desease causes demylination by removing the gap junctions that connect the layers of the Schwann cells.
