[edit] Overview

The authors had monkeys perform two tasks which could direct their attention at or away from the receptive fields of recorded neurons. Each task was performed by two monkeys, for a total of four monkeys. Area V1 was recorded.

Preferred orientation was determined by using the reverse-correlation technique.
